Welcome to Tidings. Tidings is made and independently maintained by an individual developer, not a company or staffed organization. By downloading, purchasing, or using the app, you agree to the terms below.

Eligibility

You must have the legal capacity to accept these terms. Users below the age of independent consent where they live must use the app with a guardian's permission and guidance. The app can display open-web content from feeds chosen by the user; the developer does not pre-screen every feed.

License & scope of use

We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use Tidings as an RSS reader: subscribing to feeds, reading articles, categorizing and searching, importing / exporting OPML, and managing local settings. Please don't use the app for anything that violates applicable law or infringes others' rights.

Free core, trial & advanced license

• Free forever core: without registration or activation, you can use unlimited feeds and OPML import/export, reading, stars, unlimited PDF export, and 15 cumulative Markdown article exports. The quota counts successful file writes and is not promised to reset after reinstall or upgrade.
• Full 7-day trial: each device may start one trial of AI translation, summaries, AI Radar / daily briefings, article Q&A, unlimited Markdown, and Obsidian integration. It returns to Core when it expires and never charges automatically.
• Lifetime license: one purchase supplies an activation code for two active devices by default. The app uses signed offline leases of up to 30 days and renews them online. After a refund, revocation, or extended inability to renew, advanced features may stop when the current lease ends. You can deactivate a device in the app or through support.
• AI features still require an independent OpenAI-compatible provider and API key. That credential authenticates with the provider, not Tidings. Provider usage may be billed separately; Tidings does not supply or resell model credits.

Content ownership

The articles and content presented through your RSS subscriptions are copyrighted by their original authors or source sites. Tidings only fetches and presents them according to your subscriptions and claims no rights over this content. Please use it within the limits allowed by the original authors and sources.

Website purchase, activation code & refunds

Advanced is a one-time lifetime license with no auto-renewal. Paddle Checkout controls the actual price, currency, tax, and available payment methods. Local methods such as Alipay and WeChat Pay appear only where supported for the buyer and enabled for the Paddle account. After payment is confirmed by webhook, the activation code is sent to the address entered in the website purchase form and is also displayed in the original browser. Delayed or failed email delivery does not change the payment result; the browser copy and support channel remain available for delivery. Save the code securely and do not publish, resell, or use it to evade device limits.

Refunds and payment disputes follow the checkout provider's rules, applicable consumer law, and these terms. An approved refund or chargeback may revoke the license; an already signed offline lease can continue only until its current term, at most 30 days. Independent AI provider accounts, credentials, availability, and usage charges are not included.

Third-party services & links

Feeds, article sites, optional iCloud, the payment provider, and the AI provider you configure are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for having the right to send content to your provider and for its usage charges. Tidings does not control those services or their availability.

Acceptable use

Do not use Tidings to infringe intellectual property or privacy, bypass access controls, distribute malware, interfere with the app or third-party services, or engage in unlawful activity. We may restrict affected functionality when required by law or necessary to protect the app and its users.

Website download & updates

Download only from the official address linked by tidings.info and verify the macOS Developer ID signature, notarization status, and published checksum information. Do not bypass system warnings to run an unknown or modified build. The app links update checks to this website. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, updates do not change the lifetime nature of a purchased license.

Disclaimer & limitation of liability

AI-generated translations, summaries, and answers may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. Please verify and judge for yourself, and don't treat them as a substitute for professional advice. RSS content comes from third-party sources, and Tidings likewise doesn't guarantee its accuracy, timeliness, or availability.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tidings is provided "as is," and we're not liable for any loss arising from using or being unable to use the app, or from relying on AI output.

Governing law & general terms

Except where mandatory consumer law in your location provides otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Please first try to resolve disputes through the support email; unresolved disputes may be brought before a court with jurisdiction where the individual developer resides. If one provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective, and delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver.

Changes & termination

We may update these terms from time to time; for significant changes we'll update the "Last updated" date on this page. If you don't agree to the updated terms, please stop using the app. You can also uninstall and stop using Tidings at any time.
